4.2.1 Connect Google Calendar

Cake puts your sessions on their own calendar in Google, called Cake sessions.

  1. Open Settings , then Availability and calendar . Under Your calendar, press Connect Google Calendar.

  2. On Google's screen, leave every permission ticked. Cake needs them to add your sessions. If you untick one, Cake can only read your busy time.

  3. Wait a moment. The screen reads Cake is preparing your Cake sessions calendar. until the calendar is made, then Cake sessions calendar is ready. If it stalls, press Try again.

  4. Open Google Calendar. Your bookings are on the Cake sessions calendar. If it's hidden or unticked there, turn it on.

Note: Cake sessions is separate from your main calendar. Cake writes to it, and only reads the others.

4.2.2 Before you press Disconnect

Disconnect is one tap, and it deletes the Cake sessions calendar in Google. It's under Your calendar, and Cake doesn't ask you to confirm.

  • It deletes the calendar: Cake deletes the Cake sessions calendar it made in your Google account, and every event on it. Notes you added to those events go too.
  • One attempt only: Cake makes one attempt to delete the calendar, then ends its access to your Google account. If the delete fails, the calendar stays in Google.
  • What it leaves alone: Your other Google calendars, and your sessions in Cake.
  • If you connect again: Cake makes a new calendar and adds your upcoming sessions and time blocks to it.

4.2.3 What Cake adds

When you connect, Cake adds your upcoming sessions and time blocks, not past ones.

  • When you connect: Cake adds every session that starts after you connect, unless it's cancelled or completed. It adds your time blocks that are still ahead. It doesn't add sessions that have already passed.
  • After that: A new booking shows up there, and a rescheduled session moves with it.
  • Time blocks: A time block shows up with the block's label, or Time block if it has none.
  • What each event holds: Cake writes the client's full name, the session time and time zone, and a private link to the session into each event.

4.2.4 Which calendars Cake checks for busy time

Under Calendars Cake checks for busy time, tick the Google calendars that should block your time. Your main calendar is ticked until you choose others, and you need at least one. Cake reads free and busy times from the calendars you tick. It never reads the Cake sessions calendar for busy time, so your sessions don't block themselves.

4.2.5 Phone alerts

Cake sets no alerts on those events. Your phone's alerts for them come from Google. If your phone doesn't alert you for a session, check the notification settings for the Cake sessions calendar in Google Calendar.

Cake's own alerts are separate.

To get Cake's own alerts, read Get alerts when a client needs you.

4.2.6 Questions

I connected, and my sessions aren't there.

Check three things. Cake adds only sessions still ahead, so a session that's already past won't show. The calendar can take a moment to be made, until the screen reads Cake sessions calendar is ready. And if you left a permission unticked on Google's screen, Cake can only read your busy time. Then Your calendar shows Update Google Calendar access. Press it, and leave every permission ticked.

Where do my sessions show in Google?

On the Cake sessions calendar, not your main one. If you can't see it, turn it on in Google Calendar.
