The deal, plainly
These are the terms for using Cake, a service operated by Cake Ink LLC. They're short because the product is young, and plain so you can read them in one sitting.

What Cake is
Cake provides booking tools for tattoo artists and their clients. A client sends a request, the artist decides, the client picks a time and pays a deposit. Cake does the logistics.
Your prices, your policies
Artists set their own prices, deposit amounts, and policies.
Deposits
A deposit is an agreement between the artist and the client. Artists can take deposits by card in Cake, processed by Stripe into the artist's own Stripe account, or through their own payment handles, such as Venmo, Zelle, Cash App or their own payment link. They can also take no deposit at all. On a card deposit, the client pays the deposit and Stripe takes its card processing fee from the artist's payout. When an artist refunds a card deposit in Cake, the refund is in full and the artist pays Stripe's card processing fee. An artist can set a refund rule for their deposits. The pay page shows it before the client pays. It shows no rule on a request approved before the rule existed, or approved while an artist with refund wording in their policies hadn't chosen between that wording and Cake's standard refund wording. Cake doesn't refund a deposit on its own. The artist decides whether to keep or refund each one, and questions about a deposit sit between the two of you.
Text messages
If you check the text-message box on a booking request, Cake texts you one message confirming you signed up, then reminders for that booking when your artist has reminders turned on. Cake sends them, not your artist. A few per booking. Cake texts US numbers only.
Saying yes is optional, and booking works without it.
Reply STOP to stop, START to start again, and HELP for help, or write to support@cake.ink. Message and data rates may apply.
Stopping texts does not cancel your appointment. To change or cancel, message your artist from the link in your booking email.
The tattoo is between you two
The artwork and the sitting itself are between artist and client. Cake handles the booking, not the tattoo.
Accounts
We can close an account for abuse: harassment, fraud, or using Cake to harm someone.
The pilot
Cake is a pilot. The service is provided as is while we build, and some things will change or occasionally break. When they do, tell us and we'll get on it.
