Give a client their link

Every request has a private page for your client. Here's how to copy its link, what your client sees there, where their replies land and where they find their time.

The short answer

  • Open the request and press Copy client link, then send it to your client.
  • Each press makes a new link, and the link you copied before stops working. Send the newest one.
  • The link needs no sign-in and has no expiry.
  • Your client's replies, from their page or from Cake's emails, land in the request's conversation.

5.3.1 Copy the link

Open the request and press Copy client link, then send it to your client.

  1. Open the request.

  2. Press Copy client link. On most requests it's in the row of buttons next to Message. On a new request it's at the bottom of the piece card. Cake says Client link copied.

  3. Paste it into a text, a message or an email to your client.

Note: You'll also find Copy client link on a booked session whose consent isn't signed, beside Record in-person consent. After a Quick add with no email on file, the button is Copy their link.

5.3.2 Send the newest link

  • A new link each press: Each press makes a new link, and the link you copied before stops working. Send the newest one. Links in the emails Cake sends your client keep working.
  • When it won't copy: Cake can't make a new link while a client has a time held, a card checkout open or a payment still settling. It only says Couldn't copy that link. Try again. The link your client already has still works.
  • No sign-in, no expiry: The link needs no sign-in and has no expiry. Your client doesn't make an account: the link is the key, so send it to them alone. Offered times run out, but the page stays.

5.3.3 What your client sees

The page changes with the request. Rosa stands in for your client's name.

  • A new request: Got it! It says the request went to you, nothing is charged until Rosa picks a time, and what happens next.
  • Approved: The heading is your first name followed by 's in. It shows the times to pick from and, with a deposit, how to pay it.
  • Booked: You're booked! It shows the day, time and time zone, with Google Calendar and Apple / Outlook buttons. If you require consent, a Sign consent task shows too.
  • Closed: This request is closed, with a link back to your page.

The page also has a box for Rosa to message you, with photos. It works on a closed request too. Photos can be JPG, PNG or HEIC, up to 10 MB each.

5.3.4 Where your client finds their time

  • On their page: The You're booked! card shows the day, time and zone, with buttons to add it to Google Calendar or Apple / Outlook.
  • In the booking email: The subject starts Booked: and gives the time and your first name.
  • In a reminder: If you've turned reminders on, the email names the time too.

To turn reminders on, read Reminders for your clients.

5.3.5 Where replies land

Your client's replies, from their page or from Cake's emails, land in the request's conversation. A message typed on their page shows in order with your messages. Cake's emails to your client reply to a Cake address that files the reply under the request. Photos come through. Other attachments don't.

You get an email, Client replied, and a browser notification if you've turned them on. A client who replies to a text doesn't reach the conversation.

To get those alerts on your phone, read Get alerts when a client needs you.

5.3.6 Questions

What does Copy on a client's page copy?

Their email or phone, not the link. Copy client link is on the request.

Is this my public page's link?

No. Your public page's link sits at the top of Settings, under your name, with a small copy button beside it. The client link is for one request.

Adding a client yourself? Read Add a client with Quick add.
