Jump to the steps

6.1.1 Add a note

Add your policies as a note in Settings , then Your intake . That room is your request form. Cake shows a live preview of what your client sees.

  1. Open Settings , then Your intake .

  2. At the end of the section where it should go, press + Add a note.

  3. Under Heading (optional), type a heading, such as "Before you book". It takes up to 200 characters.

  4. Under What it says, type your policies, up to 20,000 characters. A blank line starts a new paragraph on your client's form.

  5. Switch on They have to check a box if you want one. The box reads I understand.

  6. Press Add it. Cake says Write something first. if the note is empty.

  7. To change the box's words, type them under What the box says on the note, up to 120 characters.

  8. Press Save. Your client sees nothing new until you do.

Note: After any change, Save and Discard show. Discard drops your changes.

6.1.2 What your client sees

Switch on They have to check a box, and a client can't send a request without ticking it. The form won't send without the tick, and Cake checks again on its side.

Your client sees your heading, your words and the box. A note you switch off isn't shown, and its box isn't asked for.

  • It isn't consent: The tick says your client read the note. It isn't a signed consent. For a signed form, use Consent documents in the same room.

6.1.3 Change, hide or remove a note

Each note opens in place with the same fields. Use the up and down arrows to move it, the switch to hide it from clients, or Remove. Notes and the questions you add share a limit of 20. Cake says "That's the limit, 20 added questions." and asks you to remove one.

6.1.4 Where prices and questions go

You can put your prices in a note too, and ask your own questions with + Add a question.

  • Prices: Cake has no price field. You can put your prices in a note, in What it says. Cake's own form asks for your client's budget under The tattoo, which is theirs, not yours.
  • Questions, like where they're coming from: Press + Add a question in a section. Under How they answer, pick Short answer, Long answer, Chips, Photos or Yes or no. Type it under Your question. Cake has no location or date question, so ask in your own words, such as "Where will you be coming from?"
  • A different room: Settings , then Policies & FAQs is for your public page, not your request form.

6.1.5 Questions

Where's the Required toggle for my note?

A note doesn't have one. The tick is the switch They have to check a box.

How do I go back to Cake's default form?

Press Back to the Cake default. Cake warns that this drops every change: wording, added questions and your documents. Press Reset it to go ahead, or Keep my changes. It saves right away.

6.1.6 Still stuck?
