Turn on appointment reminders

Turn on appointment reminders and Cake emails your client 1 day and 2 hours before a session. After a request books, your client reads the session time in the subject line.

Turn on appointment reminders

Reminders are off until you turn them on:

  • On Home, tap your photo or initials at the top right.
  • Tap Automated messages.
  • Under Before the session, tap Appointment reminders.
  • Turn on Reminder 1, Reminder 2 or both.
  • Tap Save.

Reminder 1 emails your client 1 day before the session. Reminder 2 goes 2 hours before. With both on, the Appointment reminders row reads "On · 1 day before, 2 hours before".

On the day of the session, a reminder's subject reads "Today 11:30 AM · tattoo with" and your first name.

Sessions booked before you turn reminders on get them too. Cake skips a reminder whose send time has already passed, so a session booked 5 hours out gets no 1-day reminder.

Move a session and its scheduled reminders follow it. A cancelled session gets no reminder.

Set either reminder's timing in hours or days, and rewrite its words. Saved words also go to reminders that are still scheduled.

Reminders send between 9 AM and 9 PM, so one due at 8 AM goes out at 8:59 PM the evening before.

A client you added yourself and never sent a message or session link gets no reminder.

Client emails put the session time in the subject

After a request books, the subject reads "Booked: Tue, Oct 6 at 12:00 PM Pacific with" and your first name, after the Cake request code. Move the session and the subject shows the new time. Cancel it and the subject goes back to the wording it had before booking.

The booking confirmation's inbox preview reads "Your appointment is Tue, Oct 6 at 12:00 PM Pacific." The email saying the session moved names the new time there too.

The approval email names the time you offered, or reads "You have 3 times to choose from" when you offered three.

Requests cards state your quote

A Requests card shows the price you quoted, such as "$350 to $500".

A deposit the client reported reads "Venmo deposit reported", with no amount. After you confirm it, the card reads "$100 paid", and the quote stays next to what was paid.

When a confirmed deposit and a new report sit on one request, the card reads "$50 paid · Deposit claimed on Venmo, check it landed" beside Confirm it landed.

Buffer and minimum notice save at 0

In Availability and calendar, Buffer between sessions and Minimum notice save at 0 and still read 0 after a reload.

A blank field, a fraction or a negative number shows that field's error and saves nothing.

If you saved 0 before, Cake stored a 0 buffer as 30 minutes and a 0 notice as 48 hours. Open Availability and calendar and save 0 again.

Your intake keeps Save in view on a phone

In Your intake, Save and Discard come up above the bottom bar as you type, before you leave the field. They stay up in As your client sees it.

Leaving with unsaved edits asks "Discard unsaved changes and leave this room?"

From a field you're editing, one press on Use Cake's words brings up Save and Discard. Back to the Cake default shows Reset it and Keep my changes above the bottom bar, with no scrolling.

Try the live demo on cake.ink

The cake.ink homepage runs a demo of the studio and the client pages with sample clients, under an Artist tab and a Client tab. On a phone, press Try the live demo to open it full screen.

  • Session day, the live session bar and Wrap up show times in the session's own time zone, not your phone's.
  • A $9.99 deposit reads "deposit unpaid $9.99" on its Requests card, where it used to round to $10, and "$9.99 deposit" on the request's offer.
  • The email a client gets after sending you a request no longer says "You can close the tab. We've got it from here."
